Human Rights Council, Fourth Session: Building capacity to protect human rights

Amnesty International takes the occasion of the fourth session of the Council to bring a number of situations of grave human rights violations to the attention of Council members and to urge the Council to devote its full attention to these situations as soon as it is fully operational. The organization restates recommendations about the Universal Periodic Review. Other concerns in this document include Guantanamo Bay, Somalia, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Iraq and Uzbekistan. Amnesty International also makes recommendations, in particular in relation to Darfur and Israel/Occupied Palestinian Territories.
