In light of the upcoming round of the EU-Turkmenistan Human Rights Dialogue in June 2010, Amnesty International would like to provide background information on key human rights challenges currently persisting in Turkmenistan. This document highlights recent cases that are illustrative of Amnesty International’s concerns about failures of the authorities in Turkmenistan to respect and protect the rights guaranteed in the ICCPR and supplements previous publications on the respective cases.
