In May 2003, Aminat Dugaeva and Kurbika Zinabdieva, were taken from the latter's home in Ulus-Kert by armed, masked men. Around this time, a spokesperson for the Russian federal forces reportedly announced that two women from Ulus-Kert had been detained under suspicion of terrorism. When their mothers attempted to establish their whereabouts, they were not given any information by local procuracies. This appeal case asks that letters be sent expressing concern about the well-being of the two women, urging an effective investigation of the circumstances of their "disappearances" and urging their immediate release.
