Italy: Invisible children – The human rights of migrant and asylum-seeking minors detained upon arrival at the maritime border in Italy

This report highlights Amnesty International’s concerns about the human rights of foreign minors held in detention centres after their arrival at the Italian southern maritime border. Amnesty International urges the Italian authorities to re-examine thoroughly their current policy, legislation and practice regarding the detention, conditions and treatment of migrant and asylum-seeking minors and is calling on them to ensure that they are brought fully in line with international human rights law and standards relating to children, detainees, migrants and asylum-seekers paying particular attention to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
