Thailand: “If you want peace, work for justice”

This report reflects field research findings and covers major human rights concerns, including excessive use of lethal force, threats and attacks against human rights defenders; possible “disappearances”; arbitrary detention; and torture and ill-treatment. It also addresses human rights abuses by armed political groups, such as deliberate attacks against civilians, including killings, death threats, and destruction of property necessary for the survival of the civilian population. Amnesty International is also concerned that the security forces are not adequately protecting areas of the far South, in some instances abdicating their responsibility by arming villagers to defend themselves.
