Nepal: Briefing to the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women

Amnesty International, Kav La’Oved and Pourakhi are submitting this information to the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women. This briefing focuses on the organizations’ concerns regarding the situation of Nepalese women who seek to pursue opportunities to work in other countries. Nepalese female migrant workers are effectively trafficked for purposes of labour exploitation as domestic workers and caregivers in certain countries. Regrettably, measures adopted by the Nepalese government to protect women from the risk of such exploitation have failed.
