Indonesia: Failure to protect LGBT activists in Surabaya

In March 2010 police failed to prevent the intimidation, harassment and threats of violence against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) activists in Surabaya, East Java. In this document Amnesty International urges the Indonesian authorities to conduct thorough investigations into reports of violence against the LGBT activists and to conduct independent investigations into allegations that the police failed to take adequate steps to prevent harassment of the LGBT activists.
