Ghana: Two sentenced to death for murder

Two people have recently been sentenced to death in Ghana in separate murder cases. Kwaku Duroh, aged 48, was convicted of murdering an 80-year- old woman and sentenced to death by the Ashanti Regional Public Tribunal, apparently some time in January 1992. Kofi Ntorie, a 40-year-old farmer, was sentenced to death on 18 January 1992 by the Western Regional Public Tribunal. He had been convicted of the murder of a child. Both men pleaded not guilty to the charges. It is not known whether appeals have been lodged in either case.
