Democratic Republic of Congo: Irene Khan’s closing statement for Amnesty International’s high level mission to the Great Lakes’ region

The following statement was delivered by Irene Khan, Secretary General of Amnesty International, at a press conference in Kinshasa, (Democratic Republic of Congo) on 24 October 2003. Here the Secretary General calls on the transitional government to give the highest priority to stopping, urgently and immediately, the horrendous cycle of human rights abuse in eastern DRC.
