South Korea: Appeal for the release of Korea Labour Party members
Five members of the preparatory committee of the Korea Labour Party were arrested on 9 April 1992; AI is calling for their immediate and unconditional release. AI believes the five, Ku In-hoe, Chong Kwang-pil, Im Young-taek, Lee Sang-min and Choi Chong-sik, are held for peacefully exercising their rights to freedom of expression and association. They are at present in Seoul Prison, awaiting trial. Four other members, Min Yong- Chang, Chu Dae-hwan, Lee Yong-son and Chun Song, who were arrested in January, have been given suspended prison sentences and released.
